"When you think of the individual that is synonymous with sevens rugby excellence in Canada you immediately think of Shane Thompson,” said Karl Fix, lead organizer of Ultra Sevens Rugby. “Shane’s contribution to rugby, particularly in the sevens arena, has to be recognized and honoured. It is fitting that we name the Ultra Sevens Rugby trophy the Thompson Cup,” added Fix.
