REGINA, Saskatchewan (May 11, 2012) — The inaugural Ultra Sevens Rugby match to be played in Regina on Saturday, May 12, will also be available via the internet. Ultra Sevens Rugby is partnering with SportsCanada.TV to provide viewers with the opportunity to experience this history-making event online.

SportsCanada.TV recently worked with Rugby Canada in March to broadcast the 2012 University Rugby 7s National Championships from B.C. SportsCanada.TV has developed a platform that empowers teams and leagues with the opportunity to produce their own broadcasts and share them with their growing viewership. Their goal is to increase the coverage of Canadian amateur sports and provide Canadian athletes the much-needed exposure they deserve.

Ultra Sevens Rugby’s inaugural match between Saskatchewan provincial rivals the Prairie Fire and the Wolverines will also be broadcast on television by Regina’s Access7 on Saturday, May 19 at 1 p.m., with that TV broadcast to be repeated Wednesday, May 23 at 8 p.m. The online broadcast via the SportsCanada.TV website (www.sportscanada.tv) begins at 8 p.m. ET on Friday, May 25.

“We are very pleased that SportsCanada.TV will be making the game accessible to fans that cannot make it to the game or are outside of the Access broadcast area,” says Karl Fix, lead organizer of Ultra Sevens Rugby. “We have experienced considerable interest in the game, from all parts of the world, and having it available online will help us promote the experience of Ultra Sevens Rugby.”

The Prairie Fire and the Wolverines will lock horns in Ultra Sevens Rugby’s debut on Saturday, May 12 at the Regina Rugby Club (4025 25 Ave.). Kickoff is 4:30 p.m.
